Apple Slices

Apple Slices

crust:
2 1/2 c flour
1 T sugar
1 tsp salt
cut in 1 c shortening
mix in 1 egg yolk plus enough milk to make 1/3 cup
roll half the dough the 15" x 11" rectangle and place on baking sheet.

Cover with (in order)
2/3 c crushed corn flakes
5 c peeled, sliced apples
1 - 1 1/2 c sugar
1 tsp cinnamon

roll the remaining dough and place on top.  Seal the edge and pierce the top crust.  Beat an egg white until frothy and spread on top.  Bake at 400 for 45 min.  Glaze with 1 c powdered sugar + 1 T lemon juice.


(NOTE:  try 1 1/5 times this recipe – will it FILL the pan?)
