Great Grandma's Sugar Snaps Cookie Recipe

Great Grandma's Sugar Snaps Cookie Recipe

My Christmas present to my cousins. A recipe I've had forever; got it from Grandma Berge. If you don't have it, you should. It's a favorite in my family and is known as "Great Grandma's Sugar Snaps". A great Christmas (or anytime) sugar cookie.

1 c. Crisco (do not substitute butter or marg.)
3/4 c. white sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
Beat until fluffy
1 egg (add to above and beat thoroughly)
Add to above and mix thoroughly:
2 c. flour
2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
Roll by teaspoonful into balls between your palms, then drop into
a cup filled with sugar and swirl around until ball is covered with sugar.
Place on cooky tin. No need to flatten. Cookies will flatten out like ginger snaps.
Bake at 350 degrees for about 12 mins. or until very lightly browned.
Eat, enjoy and reminisce about the 'good old days'.

(Same recipe as Grandma Lindstrom's sugar cookies, but reverse white and brown sugar amounts)
