Pfeffernusse

Pfeffernusse

350 degrees, 8-10 minutes
1 ½ cup sugar
1 cup margarine
1 egg
2 T light corn syrup
2 t baking soda
2 t anise extract
1 t each: cinnamon, cloves, ginger
3 ¼ c flour
1 t vanilla

            Cream sugar, margarine, and egg.  Add spices and extracts, mix well.  Add corn syrup, soda, and flour.  Chill several hours or overnight.
            Take a small amount of dough only a lightly floured surface.  Roll until long and thin (about the size of a small finger).  Cut into ¼ - ½ inch slices.  Bake several on a pan.
